• Since 2015, the Skandion Clinic in Uppsala has been treating patients with proton beam therapy for cancer and other tumor diseases. Our patients comes from all over Sweden and other countries.

  The intention of all radiation therapy is to damage the tumour while sparing adjacent healthy tissue. A proton beam can be controlled more precisely than traditional radiation, thus reducing the risk of radiation injuries. For this reason, proton beam therapy is especially suited to the treatment of certain types of disease, and for certain patients; for example, tumours located close to vital organs such as the brain and lungs. One such large patient group is children and young people, as it is always desirable to provide them with the gentlest treatment possible.
